That morning i walked into the barn and went straight to silent nights stall i was early so i had heaps of time to groom my horses and put them in the pasture were they would have a gallop.I brushed Silentnights body,Mane, tail and legs and then i picked out his hooves and gave him a treat.I then clipped on his lead rope and took him out to the pasture...I moved on to Star. I brushed him cleaned his hooves and took him out to the pasture.Misty was in intensive care at the vet's so she was not here.I brushed my other horses and gave them all treats and put them into the pasture. There was only Honey leaft, but i would be riding her.I brushed Honey's Chestnut back, neck, tail and mane and went over her white socks. Then i gently picked out the dirt from her hooves and stepped back to admire her.She shimmer."Your such a pretty girl"I said kindly to her and patted her.She needed soft treatment after her terrible times before the rescue.I went and got Honey's tack i set the hunter green saddle blanket and black soft saddle on her back.I then tightend the girth and moved onto the bridle.I slipped the bridel over her head and did up the straps.I led her out and tied her up on the cross ties to wait for Aylica...

Black and Winter noticed Lilly and Honey before I did. Black sniffed the air and pranced when he understood he had two buddies to go on trail rides with. I tugged his reins gently and he settled down to just trembling in excitement. Winter, however, gave Black a side glance and whinnied at him. Black whinnied back and licked Winter's forehead. Winter had been very shy of me when I had first gotten him. Black had helped him come out of his shell and trust me and some of the other people who passed by his stall everyday. Now when he saw me coming, he would let out a loud neigh of excitement, while Black would let out a low nicker from deep within his chest that was just for me. Both horses shined as we walked out into the sunshine. "Hi." I said. "Ready to go?" I asked mounting up onto Black.

Black & Winter reached out to touch noses with Honey. The mare nuzzled the stallions happily. Winter neighed. He was so happy to be outside. I gave Black a squeeze and he moved smoothly into a floating trot. He was now more focused on his job than impressing Honey or Winter with his prances. "He is such a show off." I laughed giving Black a pat. "He's a great show horse, but he gets anxious sometimes & ends up getting some of the other horses excited. He was perfect in his last show though. I think he may be growing out of it. So what about Honey, are you going to enter her in some shows?" I asked.

"Well I hope she won." I said. "She deserves it after what she'd been through. Besides, she's a beautiful mare. Any judge can see that & they'd be crazy not to." Black saw the start of the trail we were taking & quickened his pace. Winter happily picked up the pace as well. I tried to slow him, but sometimes you just can't hold a horse back, no matter how well trained he is. We reached the start of the trail & Black finally responded to the bit. "You can be such a brat sometimes." I teased him. He snorted, as if he were dismissing my remark.

"I bet she dosen't act like Black does when he's being pushy." I said. Black let out a nicker & we continued along the trail once Lilly & Honey caught up.

"He sounds like a very interesting ride" I said. "Black loves to jump. "He'd take a jump at a gallop if I'd let him. Sometimes he'll leap over the fallen logs in his pasture just for fun." I said. "He used to do that when he was a baby. He also liked to play keep away. He used to steel my sweat shirt & take off with. After I gave up, he'd bring it back to me." I said thinking of those days.

"No, not really. He takes them as they come. In fact he could jump a backward oxer if I let him. But that's way too dangerous. I couldn't risk him getting hurt." I said giving Black a pat & smooching to Winter, who gladly kept up. "I'm thinking since Black is such a show off, that I should put him in dressage shows along with his hunter & jumping shows. What do you think?" I asked looking at Lilly.

"I hope he dosen't lose any. He's really only impatient when it's too hot or too cold outside. At least that's the only time I've noticed." I said. I felt a warm breeze on my leg & looked down to see Winter sniffing them like a dog. Then he rubbed his head gently up & down, shooing a fly. "I think Winter is a bit better with patients. He'd do really well in dressage. I might even be able to get him to go over some 2 foot walls. What do you think?" I asked Lilly. Winter snorted & looked ahead. He stooped in his tracks & stared. I halted Black & looked to see a big buck standing in the middle of the trail. His antlers were huge & his eyes like black beads, he stared back at us with something like surprise & fear.
