I walked into the stable early in the morning, the air was crisp and cold. I walked down the row of stalls passing horses as I went, some looked up as I passed, some still sleeping, hardly stirred at all.
I finally reached Pandora's stall, she was awake and munching on some of the straw from her nearly empty hay net.
"Hey girl" I said as I stroked her pinkish muzzle, her ears flicked back and forward and her eyes wide, she snorted and stepped back, it was still dark, I looked like a big monster to her.
"Shhh...." I cooed to her and hearing my familiar voice she calmed and stood still. I slipped into her stall, the only sounds were the horses stirring and the soft clink of the stall door I had just closed.
I picked up the dandy brush from the grooming kit outside Pandora's stall and brushed her coat until it was clean and smooth. Then I picked out her hooves and removed the small stone from under her shoe. I then sponged her eyes, nose and dock. After that I fed and watered her and removed her from her stall to muck it out. A twenty odd minutes later, people had just begun coming too care for their horses, I was done with Pandora and I had turned her out into the Pasture, I moved on to Cyro.
He nickered happily when he saw me, his black coat was cleanissh apart from a few stray straw sticks lying on his coat. I brushed him any way. His coat looked ebony in this light. I picked out his hooves.
Then I mucked out his very dirty stall, and filled it with fresh straw. Then I scrubbed and filled his water bucket and fed him his special warm bran mash. It was cooler this side of the stables so I covered him in his warm red stable rug and let him rest.
