I watched as Stu trotted around. He was working hard and sweat was across his chest. "Good Boy" I said to him giving a little flick with the lunge whip. Stu moved up into a canter, his muscles rippling under his sleek coat. The grey andalusian cantered around a few times before slowing back to a trot. His gaits were floaty and today we were going to work on some exercises to work both me and my horse. After he trotted around the round pen a few more times I asked for a canter again. Stu shook his head and bucked twice before obeying. I smiled knowing he was still very fresh at his young age. He threw his head around some more continuing his rocking canter. After a few more bucks and half rears Stu seemed to have his extra energy out. I slowed him to a trot and soon a walk. I dropped the lunge whip and went to grab the saddle that was hanging on the fence. Once Stu was tacked up and ready to be ridden I hopped on. Immidiatly Stu dropped his head into a sloppy frame. We moved into a walk and regained a good form before trotting. We simply trotted around the round pen and I tried to get Stu to pick up his inside shoulder. (he likes to drop it and cheat on his circles) Finally he picked it up. I rubbed his neck to compliment him. His ears perked up a little knowing he was doing good. We worked on that for a few more minutes and even though it wasn't perfect yet, we moved onto cantering. Stu had trouble at first. Since he was still only three he hadn't quite found his balance with a rider at the canter yet. I used lots of leg to help steady him and it wasn't long until my legs became sore. I felt Stu slow down and urged him forewards with my seat. He listened but only went around three more times before breaking. Sitting deep, I asked that he canter again. He did and then I slowed back down after going around one more time. After some more simple exercises I halted the grey stallion and tied my reins in a knot halfway up his neck. We moved off, back into a trot exept this time with no reins. I used my leg to turn Stu where I wanted and after a half hour we were able to halt, move foreward, and turn both directions using only leg! I gave Stu a big pat and hopped off. Stu was seating pretty bad now and looked like he could use a bath. I led him back to the barn and hosed him off in the wash stall. Then I threw a cooler on him and sent him on the hot walker to cool out. Watching him, he walked slowly around looking quite relaxed after the worout. Suddenly I heard a voice behind me. Turning to see who it was I said "Hello?"

((Fanfare-could you please use " & " around where you are talking, it makes in ten times easier to read? thanks!))
"Oh, I wasn't expecting you here" I said to Fanfare. She was leading a paint horse named Sky and headed outside with him. Once Stu was cooled out I walked him back to the barn and onto the cross ties. I rubbed his damp spots with a towel and groomed him over again. He was becoming more and more fit as time passed and seemed almost ready for the stallion show. "Good boy" I said to him scratching his itchy spot. He wiggled his top lip and leaded his head sideways. I smiled and gave him a pat. I clipped the leadrope to his halter and led him outside. We went over to his pasture before I turned him loose. He trotted off to a fresh pile of hay. I mucked out his stall and scrubbed his bucket before heading to the tack room. I cleaned off my saddle and Stu's bridle along with my worn paddock boots. After re-organizing my tack locker I went back outside to get the grey stallion. He came right over and I led him to his stall. I threw a light stable sheet on him before slipping his halter off and locking the door. I fed him a few carrots and went outside to see Fanfare. As I approached I saw the paint trotting quickly around the rail. His head was high and he looked quite up tight. Reaching the fence I continued to watch. The horse broke into a canter and looked around nervously. "Shhhhhhh" I said in a low tone, coaxing the horse to relax a bit. Still looking around he shot a few bucks and raced around the pen making rivets in the sand. "Easy" I said to him as he passed. Looking up at Fanfare I said "He looks a little nervous, when was the last time you worked him?"

"I work him a little sunday" I said as I slowed down Sky and patted him on his neck. Just then Sky gave a buck close to me. I was startled by Sky's behavier. He maneged to break free of my strong, firm grip. Joaka came into the ring. Sky came Galloping up and I ran out of the way. I got a lasso from a tack locker and tried to lasso the wild horse but before I could he broke trough the fence and galloped towards falcon cliff."Joaka!I screamed,Sky's heading towards Felcon cliff! theres A wild heard of horses up there." I then ran down and got two lead ropes and put a first-aid kit in a saddle bag. the fastened it to My faithful horse Dyaimte.I rode bare back and only had her mane to hold on to. I headed to falcon cliff, following only Sky's hoof prints.

(( Why do you always grab a "lasso"? Sorry if this is rude but normally trying to lasso a horse will frighten it more))
I watched from outside the round pen as Sky bucked at Fanfare and galloped around wildly. Fanfare screamed and ran for the gait, almost getting trampled by the stallion. She managed to get out and Sky ran around bucking and rearing violently for a minute before charging the fence. Fanfare had run to the barn to get leadropes, starting to panick I watched as Sky attempted to jump the fence. He didn't exactly clear it but wiped out on his landing. He bucked more while heading off into the woods. "Fanfare!" I screamed "He's loose!" Fanfare came running out of the barn andboth of us ran to the pastures. I went to Dantae's pasture and he was eagerly watching Sky dissapear onto an unknown trail. I slid his halter on and tied a leadrope to the sides, making makeshift reins. The gate was open and I swung onto his back. Fanfare came trotting down the path on Dynamite and Dantae quickly followed. With his head high in the air and dirt all over his black coat we moved into a swift canter. I pulled on the reins to keep Dantae in a somewhat controlled canter. Although his strides were very short he easily kept up with Dynamite. "I'm going ahead!" I yelled to Fanfare. Suddenly I loosened the reins and gave Dantae his head. He galloped forewards at full speed accross the meadow that opened up after the short trail. Quickly Dynamite dissapeared behind us and we raced forewards, following the fresh prints of Sky. Dantae's breathing was still light and now it was clear why he had been a racehorse. We flew at amazing speed towards the other end. I could see Sky way far ahead now, just a little dot near the horizon. Dantae kept going, his heart racing as we moved accross the field. We came to the end and the field narrowed into a trail again. Still racing along we were slowly catching up to Sky. We cleared a few logs and a river on our way. After about another mile through the woods Dantae started to tire, his speed was begining to slow. "C'mon boy, we can do it" I wispered to him. We galloped on and reached yet another field, tis one was even bigger though and had a pond at the end. Still watching Sky run on and on ahead of us I puched the black thoroughbred on. Sweat was dripping off Dantae's chest now as we neared the pond. Suddenly Sky seemed to vanish. Wondering where he was I galloped Dantae up to where he was when I saw him. Sky was on the ground, his sides heaving heavily, and his eyes looking around wildly. "Shhh" I said to him trying to be calm. I jumped off Dantae and pretty much let him loose but he didn't wander off. I went up to Sky and placed my hand on his neck. He flinched when I touched him and he was soaked in sweat. He still had the bridle on and part of the lunge line but the corners of his mouth were dripping blood. "It's okay boy" I said to him quickly feeling over his legs making sure they were not broken. Suddenly Fanfare galloped up on Dynamite and jumped off. Grabbing Dantae's lead rope she simply watched me check Sky over. His legs were not broken and I turned to Fanfare for an extra halter.

"Thanks" I said quetly to Fanfare as she unpacked the halter out of the saddle bag. I slid the bridle off Sky and put the halter on. It already had a leadrope on it and I urged him to get up, he was still breathing very heavily and covered in sweat. After a few minutes Sky finally got to his feet, he had a few scratches but nothing major. Before I could get a good look at him I walked him around in a circle. He was a little sore on his right front leg, probably a stone bruise but kept trying to drag me. "I think he's going to be okay" I said to Fanfare "He's got a few minor scrapes and he's a little sore but should be okay" Fanfare smiled slightly but was still upset. After Sky had calmed down a little and he was finally brething normally again I halted him. Asking for his sore leg he willingly lifted it. I grabbed a stick off the ground nearby and pryed out rock that was stuck next to his frog. He flinched a little as it popped out but seemed to be relieved that it was out. It was obvious he was sore there still and Fanfare handed me a first aid kit. Stuffing the sore area with cotton I wrapped his hoof up so it would be a little easier for him to walk. Dantae and Dynamite stood quietly as Fanfare and I assesed Sky. I looked him over and had to flush out only one scrape on his flank. I handed Fanfare the leadrope and both of us hopped on our horses again and began the journey back. Moving slowly we made it back accross the field in silence before I said "So...." my voice quieter than usual "How's everything?" I asked Fanfare trying to get her mind off Sky.

"Pretty good" I told Fanfare. "Nothing really has been happening but show season is coming up!" I said exitedly. Two hours passed of silence as we continued making our way back home. Sky was walking pretty good and another hour passed before we reached the barn. I hopped off Dantae and we walked into the barn with the three horses. Fanfare turned Dynamite into her stall and put Sky on cross ties. I did the same to Dantae and ran a curry over his black coat. Soon his coat was sleek and his hooves were oiled. I slipped him some treats and went to see how Sky was. Fanfare was grooming him and he seemed just a little nervous now, much better then before. I gave him a pat and smeared some furison on a few of the larger cuts. "So Fanfare, How are all your horses?" I asked wonderingly.
