Welcome To Running Creek Race Park! This park consists of one track, turf but there are marks for a short, medium, and long race. The long is 1 mile, medium 6 furlongs, and short 3 furlongs. The stands can hold about 50 people and there are currently no stables. The park is located at Running Creek Stables and it is open free to the public for training sessions with their horses. Occasinal races will be held but it is mostly used for training endurance horses. Also, there are portable jumps for a steeple chase race available on site. Feel free to come for a training session anytime!

I led Tango into one of the stalls near the long turf track. I tied him up and got his tack out of the truck. I quickly groomed and tacked up before leading the dark bay out to the track. He got exited and started jigging by my side. I tightened the girth a bit more before mounting up. He tried to trot off on me but I held him back with a firm, steady tug on his reins. We walked a little ways to get him to settle a little before trotting. He was still very 'up' and extended his trot quite a bit. We trotted around the track about once before turning in the other direction and cantering off. I held him back and we flew around the track three and a half times before I gave him his head and raced foreward. He immidiatly picked up the pace and galloped around another two times. I slowed him back to a canter and soon a trot. We trotted around when I saw the groundskeeper walk by. "Hey could you set up a few of the jumps out here?" I asked him. 'Sure' I got in reply. I trotted Tango off the track and dismounted before leading him into the stall again. I didn't untack but I wraped all four legs with polo wraps and offered him a few sips of water. Then I put front bell boots on him and led him back out. I mounted again and we trotted back out onto the track. The jumps were set up and we warmed up again. Once we were good to go again I spun him around to face the correct direction. I halted him and then raced off as if we started in the gates. Tango lept forewards into a fast canter. I let him move off into a slow gallop as we approached the first jump. 3...2..1.and we were over it in one piece. Tango pulled at the bit fighting for his face but I held him back. We took jump after jump after jump and raced around four times before I loosened the reins. Tango raced forewards into a full out gallop and we flew around the last lap. I slowed him into a somewhat controled gallop, a fast canter, a normal canter, a very fast trot, a fast trot, a normal trot, a fast walk, and eventually a walk. I cooled him out walking around the track over and over and over until he was almost completely cooled. I walked him back over near the stall and dismounted. I untacked him and led him over to the hose. I tied him up again and hosed him completely off. I sweat scraped him and threw a cooler over his back before leading him around for another half hour while he dried. I came back, took the cooler off him and hosed him off again just to make sure he was comfterble. He shook all the water off like a wet dog and I put a dry cooler on him. We walked around for another hour before he was dry. I led him back to the stall and groomed him over really good. I put a sheet on him and loaded him into the trailer. I hopped in the truck and drove back to the main stables. I unloaded him and put him into his pasture. I sliped his halter off and threw him a flake of hay before saying goodbye and leaving.

I just reached the entrance to the Running Creek Race Park when I could already hear the neighs and whinnys of the horses in the stables. "It is a nice day for a gallop even know it is the beginning of December and a little cold." I thought to myself. I parked and unloaded Lakota and began to brush him. " Ok boy ready for a good gallop?" I asked him sweetly as if I were expecting an answer. I walked into the trailer and grabbed my saddle, bridle, and wraps off of their racks and walked back out to Loco who was quietly waiting in his shipping blanket and boots. I hurridly took off his blanket brushed him and wrapped his legs. Then I put his saddle and bridle on. I walked to the track in a long sturrip and shortened them once I reached the track. I put my goggles down and grabbed my crop out of my boot. "You ready boy?" I asked just to get his energy up. We were on the long turf track so I kicked him into a trot for the first furlong. I could see he was very hyper and wanted to run so I kicked him into a canter going around the first turn. As soon as we hit the first stretch I let him go into a fast extended gallop. We flew around the track like there was no end. Loco burst around the last turn and we galloped faster then ever down the last stretch to home. " Whoa boy whoa, very nice buddy you did very well Loco." I said softly. We trotted about three and a half furlongs before heading back to the gates in a walk. I cannot run Loco to many times a week do to a previous hock injury he sustained in a steeple chase. I walked him back to the trailer and untacked him and gave him some hay and oats. I hurried and put his racing coat on and led him over to the hot walker where I let him stay for ten minutes while I went into the stables to see the other horses. I went out to get Loco and take him back to the trailer. I loaded him on and drove back to the stables.
